Good business is the best art, Andy Warhol once said. It’s a sentiment that may well have formed an ill-advised strap line to Tate Moderns much lauded Pop Life: Art in a Material World. On December 7th there is a chance to have a guided tour of said exhibition with its curator Catherine Wood showing how art, media, business and a touch of glamour came together to create the phenomenon of late 20th century artist as self-made ’star’. There is also the changing shape of political and economic platforms from which artists have always been forced to operate; and how this has impacted upon the commercialization and currency of the Pop Lifes featured artists: Damien Hurst, Jeff Koons, Sarah Lucas, Tracy Emin, Gavin Turk et al.
