Our Dying Media-Based Cliches

Steve Rubel has posted an interesting series of images illustrating ten common phrases that are fading from use. Sayings such as “he sounds like a broken record”, and “she’s a walking encyclopedia” may have once been common cliches, but as the technology that they’re based on disappears from our life the phrases are left standing as a strange, antiquated cultural remnant.
