Idea-planner Russell Davies has published a fascinating presentation on his site about playfulness. In the presentation he looks at how elements of gaming and play creep in to elements of regular life whether those elements designed or not to be playful. At one point he explains that our attraction to fictional hero Jason Bourne is driven by the fact that we can imagine that we’re like him because he spends so much time commuting.

Later in his presentation, he explains that we buy expensive Swiss watches so that we can imagine that we’re pilots.

It’s a very inspirational read – more here: Playful Presentation
