Cuidemos Mexico Distributes Free Energy-Efficient Light Bulbs To Millions Of Homes

By Kyle Studstill on December 16, 2009

Austraila-based Cool nrg consults organizations on energy efficiency and environmental impact reduction, ultimately aiming to inspire action on climate change. Through the Cuidemos Mexico project, Cool nrg is reaching out with free energy-efficient bulbs to disadvantaged homes, hoping to spread cleaner energy.

By distributing up to four compact fluorescent light bulbs per home,  30 million bulbs will be distributed to 7.5 million poor and middle-class homes throughout Mexico. The new bulbs stand to save households US $165 million per year in energy bills, and return US$200 million per year in government electricity subsidies.
