Eco-Friendly Minimalist Shopping Cart Concept

Eco-Friendly Minimalist Shopping Cart Concept

By Dave Pinter on December 1, 2009

Brazilian designer Mauricio Noronha has created a modern update of the humble shopping cart. His SmartCart concept ditches the traditional wire basket and instead allows users to hook their own bags, a store basket, or the complimentary ‘Peanut’ case to the frame. Noronha’s peanut cases are designed with a hard base and soft sides as well as carry handles to take them home. The bags collapse down for easy storage.

The cart frame uses a minimum of materials in it’s construction. The rear wheels extend beyond the handle which should improve the maneuverability of the cart. Because there is no axle connecting the rear wheels, the carts can next tightly together, taking up less space in a store.
