Marcus Eriksson’s Type Zero Typeface For Journey To Zero

Marcus Eriksson’s Type Zero Typeface For Journey To Zero

By Kyle Studstill on December 11, 2009

The Journey to Zero movement is an ongoing initiative of TED conference founder Richard Saul Wurman, bringing inspirational thinkers together to help build a future of zero-emission vehicles.

Art director and designer Marcus Eriksson has been working to brand the zero-emission conversation, seeing his role as both identifier and recruiter. In addition to developing a tool that allows users to create zero-emissions pledges for uniquely designed posters and t-shirts, he has designed a special typeface for the project, Type Zero. The font was created with each character interconnected, such that written copy creates a visual journey through zero-emission conversations. Eriksson encourages downloads of the font for use as people join the zero-emission movement.

Journey to Zero is a collaboration of leading architects, designers, and artists working to inspire the cultural shift that must accompany the technological achievements making the future of zero-emissions vehicles possible. PSFK was able to be part of this conversation with Nissan during our Good Ideas In Pure Living event, held this October in Tokyo.
