Nokia Mobile Radar Concept

Nokia Mobile Radar Concept

By Jeff Weiner on January 27, 2010

The Nokia Research Center has recently introduced “mobile radar” in concept form at a demo in Finland.  The technology is similar to other forms of radar, but have been applied to a cell phone, to allow users to measure speed, distance, and direction.  One interesting use for this technology is demonstrated in the following video.  Specifically, users are able to control the volume of their phone based on the proximity of their hand to the headset. This is yet another example of device manufacturers re-envisioning how people interact with their mobile devices.
