(Video) Electric Guitar Evolution: A Stringless Touchscreen Guitar

Utilizing touch screen technology, Misa Digital, a company based in Sydney Australia, has taken the idea of an ‘electric guitar’ further by developing an open source, digital instrument to aid electronic music creators break away from the physical constraints of traditional guitars.

It’s essentially a MIDI controller in the form of a guitar (with 24 frets and a dynamic touchscreen). Operating on a Linux system, the device is versatile, and boasts a minimalist design. The touchscreen area can also be used to control elements such as sustain, pitch, filters, contours, timbre, and various synthesizer effects.
