Only in New York could the hotels have better art than most galleries. First The Standard brought us Heaven and Hell, now they’ve recruited Brooklyn-based artist Julia Chiang for an exclusive edition of 50 glazed porcelain apples as part of a project entitled “All For You”.

The series will be in conjunction with a site-specific installation for the new store at The Standard NY (opening this Friday, Feb 12). To add a sweet treat,  “All For You” is spelled out with Ring Pop candy along the wall of the shop and left to melt – leaving behind a slowly disappearing trace of each single drop, and from far away the appearance of another childhood favorite- the Light Brite.

More about the series from a recent press release:

“Chiang chose the apple because it is a symbol of desire and an icon of the city of New York. Each unique apple is handmade in porcelain and glazed a glossy red …it includes a wooden box that has been burned with the details of the edition and is signed and numbered. In addition to featuring the work of The Standard’s favorite artists like Julia Chiang, The Standard Shop will also sell sundries, amenities, necessities, Standard branded items, small gifts and accessories from NYC and around the world.”
