Smart Check-In Enables Guests To Bypass Hotel Front Desk

By Aziz Ali on February 19, 2010

Starwood Hotels and Resorts is partnering with VingCard Elsafe to install an new “Smart Check-In” pilot program at its Aloft Hotel in Lexington Massachusetts, allowing guests to skip the front desk and head directly to their rooms.

Special RFID keycards are currently being sent to Starwood Preferred Guest members who have opted into the program. A text message is then sent with their assigned room number. Starwood is considering enabling the RFID cards to eventually become an all-access pass to various facilities in their hotels and resorts.
