16-year old video blogger Blair Flower, a.k.a. Juicystar07, has helped Shoes of Prey - a custom design shoe site – generate the highest traffic in one day since its inception. Juicystar07′s YouTube video encouraged viewers to create their own design on the site, post it as a comment to the video, and win free shoes. The video became one of the top viewed on YouTube with over 450,000 views, driving over 200,000 visits in one day to Shoes of Prey – and was the 5th most viewed on YouTube worldwide last Wednesday and the most commented on video worldwide for the day.
While the video promo generated the highest single-day traffic the site has seen, it didn’t necessarily translate into conversions, given that Flower’s primary audience is 13 to 17-year old girls. That said, Shoes of Prey are undaunted and are still encouraged by what the teen’s promo helped generate in terms of awareness – and will likely rely on social media again to continue to drum up sales.
According to Shoes of Prey’s Michael Fox,
Clearly we’re big believers in online media, but we’re still in the process of picking ourselves up off the floor after witnessing first hand the fact that a 16 year old YouTuber can deliver us 3 times the traffic in a couple of days that some excellent traditional media coverage has over 5 months.
