Electronic Jug Can Determine Milk Freshness

Electronic Jug Can Determine Milk Freshness

By Dan Gould on March 29, 2010

Designer Oliver Newberry has devised a simple solution that takes the guesswork out of telling if milk is OK to drink.

Newberry’s milk jug, designed for the Cravendale milk company, has sensors built in which measure the PH of the liquid. When it becomes too acidic, an LCD screen on the side changes from fresh to sour.

Reps from Cravendale claim that 330,000 tons of milk are thrown away because consumers are not certain if it’s bad or not.
