Google Powermeter’s API Released To Developers

By Naresh Kumar on March 8, 2010

Google has opened up their Powermeter tool’s API (Application Programming Interface) to developers. This will enable the developers to create applications which can interact with the Powermeter tool, thus potentially lowering the cost of a household’s energy monitoring system. Google’s decision to release the API may even push the progress of creating a smart and user friendly energy monitoring platform.

While a number of companies are entering the smart grid area and creating tools to make it easier for people to understand their energy consumption, Google with its global presence, could make a significant impact on the development of an efficient home energy management system.
