Honda Hearts Dogs

By Dave Pinter on March 16, 2010

Last year at the NY Auto Show, we saw the debut of the Dog Friendly Honda Element. We liked that Honda recognized the needs of dog owners and tailored a vehicle to meet them. We thought they might have stumbled on a previously under-served market. Little did we know it seems there are some serious dog lovers working at Honda.

In Japan, Honda has established an entire website dedicated to selecting the right vehicle to suit an owners dog. HondaDog is fascinating and incredibly detailed. Even though the site is in Japanese, there are interesting visual guides for each car showing how easy a dog can get in and out of the car and how much room they will have inside.

Honda also documents how dog hair will look on the interior fabrics and offers ratings on which colors are best suited to hide the hair. They also provide some tips for removing hair from different fabrics.

Most entertaining might be the Wallpapers section that features dogs with new and classic Honda vehicles. The site also provides travel information throughout Japan for dog friendly rest stops and parks.
