Using Fake Shops To Mitigate The Recession

A town in the UK is using an unusual campaign to maintain an atmosphere of activity on its high streets.

North Tyneside has begun a program to makeover empty shops with large-scale graphics which give the illusion that the storefronts are occupied.

Though perhaps not as useful as turning empty stores over to artists or pop-up shops, this recession-mitigating move at least helps people imagine possibilities.
