Future Of Retail: Massive Multitouch Displays
Given its ability to link intuitive actions to our interactions with digital displays, multitouch is quickly becoming the default interface for many of our personal devices, but what happens when our screens are scaled to life size? Finnish company, MultiTouch, is exploring the social potential of these massive displays, developing technologies that enable groups of people to simultaneously engage with a variety of virtual information such as documents and pictures. While similar systems are already in the marketplace, MultiTouch’s design improves on both resolution and response time, delivering a seamless level of in-person collaboration. The platform also works with physical objects, opening the door for a number of interesting in-store applications, such as providing instant product information and comparisons without the need to pull up a website or talk to a member of the sales staff.
