Jane Jacobs, was an author and activist who fought against massive urban development, instead advocating human-scale communities.

A grassroots movement named after Jacobs — Jane’s Walks, is aiming to enrich communities by organizing locally-led walking tours in towns and cities. The tours focus on intimate details, social history, and issues important to residents rather than just historic events or notable architecture.

Over 20 cities in North America currently participate along with Mumbai, India.
