Spontaneous Bar Built From Umbrellas
Dutch studios DUS Architects and Studio for Unsolicited Architecture created a dome of orange colored umbrellas around a lamp post in Rotterdam city and hosted a party under it. Inspired by the domes built by the late American architect Buckminster Fuller, the Bucky Bar attracted around 300 visitors to its spontaneous street party complete with DJ and drinks, before cops came in and closed the bar.

Bucky Bar is the first in the series of proposals launched by the studios for the future development of Rotterdam. The creators say that the bar shows the power of space for impromptu gatherings and shelters for hosting parties and debates in the community.
