The YouTube store has started offering movie and TV episodes for rental on its site.

YouTube has started renting out a range of movies and TV episodes at youtube.com/store. The 48 hour rentals cost from 99 cents to $3.99, and are paid through Google Check-out. While there is no formal announcement from YouTube yet, the rental store may have opened last week and is perhaps currently available only in the US.

For YouTube, it’s an expansion of its rental program which started earlier this year with paid viewing of Sundance films.
