2 Mile Challenge: A Brand Supported Social Cause

A collaboration between Clif Bar and DailyMile aims to fight climate change.

CLIF Bar has partnered with DailyMile’s mileage-tracking community on the CLIF 2 Mile Challenge (2MC) to help fight climate change. encouraging bike commuters to log their miles into a competition for the chance to award one of three bike-oriented charities  with $50,000. Each of the charities – Alliance for Biking and WalkingTrips for Kids, and the Alliance for Climate Education – receive $25,000 right off the bat, and the charity’s team on the 2MC system that rides the most miles gets the additional $25,000 grant.

Developed as by the CLIF bar team, Cobra Creative, and Undercurrent, this challenge offers another recent example of how a brand can support a social or cultural cause, and help encourage and empower consumers to work towards change. We hope to see more brands continue to add social good initiatives to their sustainability and marketing plans, in addition to those that more “purely” drive sales.
