2010 ICFF: Rachel O’Neill – Pianist and Velcro Artist

2010 ICFF: Rachel O’Neill – Pianist and Velcro Artist

Irish designer blends her love of music and design with an unusual material.

Dave Pinter, PSFK

Irish designer Rachel O’Neill is passionate about music and playing the piano. She also creates large scale lighting and wall hanging pieces made from custom dyed velcro. Photos don’t really do justice to the pendant lights she brought to this year’s ICFF. At first glance the they appear to be made from twisted fabric ribbon. In creating the pieces, Rachel takes inspiration from the melody and rhythm of music.
