Social Media Helps Fuel 30 Days Of Creativity

30 Days of Creativity is a social initiative that encourages people to be creative and make “stuff” – anything from photography, to a LEGO sculpture, to art or food, writing a song or screenplay, and beyond – every day for 30 days. Beginning on June 1st, participants are encouraged to create something, whether it’s a unique piece daily, or to work towards a larger project daily, culminating on day 30. The project was launched by folks from Minneapolis’ creative community, and was inspired by #30daysofbiking by @patiomensch. The sole objective is to encourage creativity by practicing it.

Interested participants can follow the project on Twitter at #30daysofcreativity, and pledge what they want to create. Photos or video of creations can be tagged on Flickr or Vimeo with the hashtag #30daysofcreativity -which may ultimately make their way into the site’s daily highlights.

We’re proponents of any initiative that encourages creativity and communal sharing – and realize this is something that social media is inherently ideal at facilitating. It will be interesting to see what participants develop within these 30 days, and what those pieces ultimately lead to for its creators, and inspired audience.
