Don’t feel like paying $1,000 to fly to shop in India? Check out Exclusively.In, a new e-commerce warehouse selling Indian imported clothing like beautifully designed and colorfully accented dresses, saris and masala tees. The online shopping site not only looks like Gilt Group, it acts like Gilt Group with members-only, time-limited sales offering heavily discounted high end designer threads, but with Exclusively.In, the designs are exclusively Indian.

In its first week in June, the site attracted a handful of members, mostly from Indian customers living in America. To boost emphasis and up sales, the team focused on the social aspect of social commerce.

“There are 2,765,815 Indians living in the U.S.A.,” says Jason Fried, the site’s VP of Product,  “But we really wanted to target the non-Indian, white market, so our marketing team went after the Eat Pray Love fans on Facebook. The result? By week 6, they had increased sales by 400%.”
