What are you working on right now?
Right now the main project I am working on at the Museum is an exhibition on sex and comics launching in Mid January. I am also deeply involved in my own new personal project, a blog called www.curatorofsex.com. For me, this has become the center of my professional happiness. It is a very empowering thing taking your personal and professional interests and turning them toward a project that is all your own.
What does happiness mean to you, and how does it play into the work that you do?
Happiness if being fulfilled, active, engaged and loved. Sex is tied to identity and politics of orientation, which of course as tied to happiness. Being able to be oneself, enjoy one’s sexual desires is a part of the whole framework of happiness. My job has little to do with financial gain and centers on my desire to always be learning. I am constantly exposed to new content via media, arts, books etc and I have the unique pleasure of transforming this into content that is educational, entertaining and socially responsible. As a curator, I work closely with designers, which allows me to a creative outlet in addition to my educational mission. In essence, my job is never boring and every few months I am working on a new project.
