Nissan is less than 24 hours away from delivering its first long awaited 100% electric Leaf to customer number one.
December 11th 2010 is a day Olivier Chalouhi has probably been counting down to for a while. The 31 year-old San Francisco Bay area entrepreneur who founded Fanhattan will be the first consumer to take delivery of a new Nissan Leaf in the world. He’ll pick up the car at North Bay Nissan of Petaluma.
For their part, Nissan is going mark the occasion with a press conference following Chalouhi receiving the vehicle at San Francisco City Hall Plaza. The event kicks off a week of Leaf deliveries to customers in the primary launch markets of Southern California, Arizona, Oregon, Seattle and Tennessee. Nissan has also committed to donating $25,000 to the World Wildlife Fund to mark the occasion.
Chalouhi will probably have an interesting weekend in the press spotlight and it will be curious to see what sort of relationship Nissan develops with Leaf owner number one and how much we’ll see him in advertising.
