Car Sharing Programs Initiated By Mercedes And BMW
Mercedes and BMW have launched a series of car sharing programs in the US and Germany in which drivers can use their cars on a per hour basis. As part of their efforts to target younger consumers who are not inclined towards car ownership, the BMW on Demand program provides its cars for as little as $21 for an hour, while Mercedes’ Car2Go concept employs smart cars which can be picked up and dropped at designated car sharing spaces. The car, meanwhile, automatically bills the driver based on the time they used it and debits their account.
