Digital Forensics: Detecting The Authenticity Of Digital Photos
Dartmouth scientist Hany Farid is developing a digital forensics software that can instantly tell whether a digital photo is genuine or not. The software detects a photoshopped image by comparing it with a signature database of almost all the digital camera models ever made to identify the equipment used to capture that photo. It then checks for any variations in the signature which would indicate manipulation of the image. The software is also capable of detecting if the image had been accessed in Adobe Photoshop.
Interestingly, the technology is being developed with the help of Adobe.
