Is Facebook Working On Voice Calling From Its Website?

The social network is speculated to be developing some kind of VOIP technology to enable voice chat among its users.

Rumor has it that Facebook may be testing VOIP calls that will enable users to voice chat with their contacts directly through the website. What raised this speculation were a few sightings of a new “Call” button by some Facebookers on their friends’ profiles. While the button itself didn’t work and Facebook has not commented on it experimenting with voice calling, we would not be surprised to see it in the future, as it comes just a few months after several sources reported of a “deep integration partnership” between Facebook and VoIP service Skype. While the latest version of Skype already has an integrated Facebook phonebook, it would be interesting to see if we would see a Skype integration on Facebook.
