NetCycle Opens Paths For Networked Swap Shop Chains

NetCycle Opens Paths For Networked Swap Shop Chains

By Stephen Fortune on February 7, 2011

Swap shops have enjoyed a revival of late, but Finnish site Netcycler is the first to marry the hassle free ethos of online exchange with the bazaar market thrill of swap meets.

NetCycler provides a service which lets sorting algorithms take care of making the right match. Upon joining, users declare which item they would like to acquire and another item of theirs which they are willing to part with in exchange. The two items need not be equivalent in commercial value.

As Springwise reports:

Using a unique matching technology, Netcycler then sets up “trade rings” that can include multiple people whereby each gets a wished-for item and is able to get rid of something too

Customers in Finland, Germany and the UK (the only three countries where the service is currently available) can use Netcycler for free, the company recoups revenue from shipping costs and other additional services.
