Starbucks has announced that more than three million people have used  mobile payments via its iPhone and Blackberry apps since the programs January launch. The Starbucks Card Mobile is available at 6,800 stores, and allows customers to pay by showing the bar code apps on their phones. According to Vice President Brady Brewer:

Starbucks now offers the nation’s largest mobile payment network.

With Starbucks having enjoyed their best-ever performing financial quarter, the company is set for growth with a much larger social and digital media strategy. Already the number one brand on Facebook, with 29 million fans, the company is set to target what it calls the consumer packaged goods market with products such as its VIA instant coffee.
