eDealdujour: The Groupon Of Online Dating

By Kyana Gordon on March 24, 2011

With buy-in deal sites like Groupon and LivingSocial making waves in the industry, it was only a matter of time before the concept was translated into a dating site. Enter eDealdujour, a French venture co-founded by Lawrence and Krystal Leurquin Ouaki in early February 2011, which highlights a different single man each day, giving interested women a limited time to respond. The idea is a riff on the movie “The Bachelor,” with Chris O’Donnell, where a young New York billionaire decides to buy the front page of the newspaper in order to create a singles ad to help him find his future wife.

How does eDealdujour work? Any single man wanting to participate must submit photos, a biography, and a statement of what they’re looking for in a partner. For 24 hours they are featured on the site along with their basic information and a video. There is also a ticking, red timer indicating to interested parties how long they have to make a move. Using eDealduJour is free for both featured men and women; fees are charged only for access to archived and upcoming profiles. A female-centric companion site is reportedly being developed.
