Game Takes Aim At Jeff Koons [Video]

By John Ryan on March 29, 2011

Artist Hunter Jonakin has created Jeff Koons Must Die, a 90′s-style first-person-shooter video game housed in a 80′s-style coin-operated arcade cabinet, in which the player, armed with a rocket-launcher, tries to destroy tall the artwork at a simulated Jeff Koons retrospective, besieged by an increasing army of museum guards, curators, lawyers, assistants, and even Koons himself.

Jonakin explains:

“In the end, the game is unwinnable, and acts as a comment on the fine art studio system, museum culture, art and commerce, hierarchical power structures, and the destructive tendencies of gallery goers, to name a few.”

Given Koons’ litigious nature, we wonder what his reaction to Jonakin’s art provocation will be.
