A 3-D Running Track Defies Convention [Pics]

By Tim Ryan on April 13, 2011

Subarchitectura created its three-dimensional track in Alicante, Spain as a break in the monotony of conventional tracks. The architects believe that the standard track dimensions leave no room for imagination. Their solution was to create a model that gave runners the option to add a hill into their routine, while simultaneously catering to runners seeking a traditional route.

The unique design serves other purposes as well. The raised track offers seating for fans, and space for locker rooms, as well as other facilities underneath it.
