LoveYourLarder: The Online Farmers Market

By Emma Hutchings on May 24, 2011

LoveYourLarder, a UK start-up out of Newcastle, received funding from The Difference Engine and launched it’s site last year. The online source of hand-crafted and rare foods from independent producers across the UK is pitching itself as an “Etsy-for-foodies.” It has currently signed up 70 producers, offering over 500 products for sale, from wild boar sausages to fresh spring white truffles, and more producers are joining each week.

There are a number of existing competitors in the online food business, however, LoveYourLarder has a lot of potential. Its blog and growing collection of recipes offer customers a little bit extra. There is also the tie-in with broadcasters, such as a national radio food program. If a chef is cooking something with local or independently produced ingredients, they can offer those products online so people can replicate their recipe.
