Will Movie Theatre Seats That Move Give Viewers More Bang For Their Buck?

Will Movie Theatre Seats That Move Give Viewers More Bang For Their Buck?

The Kinetic Movie Theater chair snaps you out of your voyeuristic state and fully immerses you into the cinematic experience. D-Box Technologies from Montreal have utilized ‘motion codes’ to mobilize the seats movement in accordance with the storyline, the soundtrack and even some of the of the actors body actions, complete with a control panel for movie goers to opt out of certain sensors. Priced at $10,000 each, these 4-D seats are being installed in 70 cinemas across the world, 50 of them located in the US. Direct partnerships with movies studios include the likes of Warner Brothers (for Harry Potter / Deathly Hallows Part 2) which warrants an interesting debate on what the future will hold for blockbuster stories – will the script inform the chairs movement or vice versa?
