Acura And Richard Chai Create A Team Of Fashionable Superheroes

More people should know about Richard Chai. Quietly and deftly, this talented designer has carefully honed his craft to create some of the freshest and chicest designs in both women’s and men’s contemporary fashion. Though adored by the fashion set, he has yet to reach the kind of widespread recognition held by other up-and-coming designers such as Alexander Wang and Proenza Schouler.

However, through linking up with wider household names, Chai has slowly been making his way into the mainstream, and his newest project is no exception. Though it’s a far cry from his more prolific collaboration with mass retailer Target, Chai has sought once again to bring his sleek designs and minimalist feel to the populas, this time by teaming up with Acura. As part of a recent promotion for the movie Thor, Chai helmed much of the costume design for the infamous S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents (the intelligence and security organization of Marvel Universe) who are decked out in sleek black suits, polished collared shirts, and other accessories that stay within Chai’s aesthetic sensibility. The finished product is definitely something unique and otherworldly, but most importantly: utterly wearable.
