A photographic history project that uses Google street view technology launches globally with an Android app.
The virtual time machine that is Historypin had its global launch this week, with a special event at the Museum of the City of New York. The photo project, in Beta since last May, has also added an app for Android, with an iPhone app on its way too. Created by the U.K. not-for-profit company We Are What We Do, in partnership with Google, Historypin is all about sharing images of the past and building a catalog of human history. You can search by location, topic and year, see collections or take a tour. Upload your own photos to add to the site’s content and “pin your history to the world”.
