Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the rest of the Peanuts Gang will soon be revived through digital platforms.
Peanuts Worldwide announced that the iconic characters of Charles M. Schulz will be revived through digital platforms. Soon, Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy and the rest of the Peanuts Gang will be appearing on Facebook, Twitter, mobile phones, tablets and even as e-books.
Owner of Peanuts Worldwide, the Iconix Brand Group, has already commissioned Beeline Interactive to create a game featuring the characters, for smartphones and tablets, which is expected to be released this fall. Iconix chairman and CEO, Neil Cole, explained that they want to make Peanuts ‘accessible to the next generation’ and make this popular 1950’s comic ‘an immersive experience.’
Even Jean Schulz, wife of the cartoonist who died in 2000 at the age of 77, is positive about this move:
I’m excited by what the Peanuts Worldwide team is doing with these digital initiatives… I think we’ve maintained the integrity and soul of Sparky’s work.
