Sizing Clothes With The Help Of Augmented Reality

Sizing Clothes With The Help Of Augmented Reality

By Piers Fawkes on August 12, 2011

The TEC Hybrid Fitting System from electronics manufacturer Toshiba is a virtual dressing room for shoppers to try on clothing using augmented reality. A camera and screen positioned in front of a customer superimposes virtual outfits onto a shopper’s body. Hand gestures allow a user to choose different items and select clothing colors to display. Recommendations are also offered, suggesting new lines or accessories to accompany outfits being viewed.

Beyond retail solutions, this system has the potential to offer an ‘in-store shopping’ experience to the disabled and those in remote locations.
