Through weekly street observations, enovate has detected five hot fashion trends that are burning through China’s fashion-forward cities.
1. False Collars (假领子)
Fake collars are nothing new for the post 90s and 80s generation who remember them from back when everyone used to have one underneath their cardigan. Today’s modern false collars are born out of a pragmatic need for increased style choices because they eliminate the need to keep multiple dress shirts lying around. These collars turn simple T-shirts into stylish and unique outfits with the snap of a button, automatically making you look unique and fresh. There are different styles too, with round, square and three-button collars in polka dot, denim and floral prints, all readily available to supplement anyone’s daily style needs.
2. Platform Shoes (厚底鞋)
Known as “cake” shoes (songgao xie 松糕鞋) in China, platforms have been popular since way back in the 90s. Girls love them for the way these shoes make them feel taller without the hassle of having to wear high heels. This summer, platform shoes are back in the spotlight with designer labels such as Prada and Izzue pushing their take on new platform shoes made out of canvas and vintage leather. 3. Neon (荧光色)
Love it or hate it, there can be no argument that neon is back. The trend, which literally jumped off the international spring and summer collection runways onto the streets of Tier 1 cities in China, is adding an extra futuristic cool and colorful flair to summer fashions.
4. Polka Dots (波尔卡圆点)
Why is the polka dot back? Because it looks vintage! The pattern makes girls look cute and guys look artistic and sensitive – in short, it puts a fine point on high fashion. With all different sized dots, choosing one pattern is not enough. This summer, you need to have at least a little polka dot in your wardrobe, only because it makes everything look good!
5. The Long Skirt (长裙 )
A long skirt can makes you look like a million dollars no matter what body type you have because it strategically hides the flaws you don’t want other people to notice. These skirts have enjoyed a massive amount of media hype lately, mostly in Japanese fashion magazines, which has helped to put them squarely on our list of hot summer fashions.
