Facebook is going to announce a major user profile redesign at its f8 conference this week, according to Mashable. The site has learned that the big changes will be part of a wider launch, including transforming the social network into a major media hub.
The redesigned profiles are going to be more “sticky”, with the intention of getting users to spend more time visiting them. They will display information about the media content from the hub, so friends will be able to see what a user is watching or listening to and access it. These profiles are also thought to be part of a larger move into social e-commerce. The social network may be giving Facebook Credits more prominence in the future as well as introducing a new Facebook app store. We’ll know their plans for sure when they make the announcements at the f8 developer conference on Thursday.
