Heineken’s New Champions League Campaign Utilizes Ambassadors

A new campaign for the beer maker highlights the joy of sport and some of its epic players.

Heineken’s relationship with the UEFA Champions League, the premier club competition in European soccer, has continued into the 2011/12 season with the launch of their new campaign: ‘Legendary Football.’ Centered around two films featuring legends from the competition, the campaign aims to focus on the special moments of the game; the magic produced by the stadiums, fans and players of the Champions League.

With an audience that spans the world, the Champions League has provided some of the most magical moments of modern day football, as players such as Patrick Vieira, Clarence Seedorf and Ruud Van Nistelrooy have graced the pitch. Each of these legendary players have taken up roles as ambassadors for the campaign and have helped to capture the energy and excitement of the tournament.

Alongside the films, content has also been created in the form of humorous adaptations, various outtakes and behind the scenes footage shall supplement the TV based Heineken commercials with online focus. Going into the seventh year of the partnership the campaign launches on the 13th September during the round of games taking place, and will eagerly be anticipated by fans of soccer across the globe.
