Patagonia & eBay Launch Common Threads Initiative For Buying & Selling Used Gear
The outdoor clothing retailer will make no profits from the exchange of pre-owned products.
Online marketplace eBay and durable outdoor apparel maker Patagonia have joined forces to launch the Patagonia Common Threads Initiative + eBay store. This is the first time that eBay and a retail brand have worked together to encourage customers to buy and sell their pre-owned clothes and gear.
In the eBay storefront, you can find great deals on Patagonia products or sell what you don’t want anymore. When you join the initiative and take the pledge, your listings are also eligible to be featured in the used clothing section on Patagonia.com.
The aim of the initiative is to work together to reduce consumption and resource depletion by buying what’s already made or selling what is no longer used. Rick Ridgeway, Patagonia’s vice president of environmental initiatives, said:
Most Patagonia products last longer than most people want or need them. Let’s reuse and recirculate those products! This program will provide everyone with the satisfaction that they are doing the right thing for the planet.
