Miami has seen a new trend emerge in the form of food trucks — those mobile mini-restaurants. What started off as a quirky idea for food vending has taken off at full speed, and exploded into a hot social gathering.
PSFK was able to attend a food truck gathering for the first time and needless to say, it was overwhelming. After parking in a field full of cars, we approached the fair grounds to be greeted by a circle of trucks surrounded by hordes of people deciding on which treats they would tickle their taste buds with. Not only did each truck have its own type of food, each came equipped with vendors with unforgettable personalities.
The blend of smells, the eye grabbing designs and a grumbling stomach were enough for us to decide we were hooked. Browsing the selection of delectables, we were surprised to find a whole variety of foods. Cuisines included Cuban, BBQ, Vegan options, and of course, a plethora of fried foods (including Twinkies).
All in all, it was a great way to spend a weeknight, and if you’re feeling adventurous and ready to please your palette, find the nearest congregation of food trucks and enjoy!
