University Uses Groupon To Attract New Students

A private university in the U.S. has become the first education institute to offer a discount on one of its course using the group buying platform.

National Louis University in Chicago became the first university in the U.S. to offer a Groupon daily deal in an effort to encourage new students to sign up for one of its courses. The private university offered a discount to its graduate-level introduction course to teaching. The Introduction to the Profession and the Craft of Teaching course usually costs $2,232, but on Groupon it was priced at just $950. The class was especially made for Groupon and was only valid for new students.

The deal was officially ‘on’ after at least 15 people purchased it. The first class starts on 26 September and students will meet for three hours every Monday evening through to early December.
