Broadway Alley Gives Wannabe Stars A Moment In The Spotlight

Broadway Alley Gives Wannabe Stars A Moment In The Spotlight

By Anna Brillon on October 18, 2011

For those who have dreamt about making it big on Broadway, this new public art installation gives them their moment to shine. Located on Anita’s Way between 42nd and 43rd street in NYC, the art piece features a spotlight and a soundtrack of 500 persons applauding. Anybody can come in, step into the light, and perform whatever they want, after which an invisible audience claps in admiration. Aptly entitled, ‘The Performer,’ this soundstage and artwork combined is the creation of artist Adam Frank. According to sources, the ‘auto-affirming’ art installation will be open to the public until November 22, giving more time for aspiring stars to perform and be applauded on Broadway.
