Google Helps Create Beer With Ingredients From Around The World

Employees collect recipe ideas for the brewery to give URKontinent flavors from five different continents.

A number of Google employees from offices across the globe helped craft brewery Dogfish Head make their new beer URKontinent using worldly ingredients. They gathered information for the project including beer ideas, input from the online community and suggestions from staff, using tools like Google moderator. These were then collated and presented to the brewers at Dogfish Head.

The result was URKontinent, brewed in the style of a Belgian Dubbel, it features unique ingredients from around the world. The flavors, gathered from five continents, are Wattleseed from Australia, Toasted Amaranth from South America, Green Rooibos from Africa, Myrica Gale from Europe and Hive Plex Honey from California.

The beer went on tap at the Dogfish brewpub in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware last week and it will be packaged for full distribution in the coming months. This video documentary offers a peek inside the process, from concept to tap, of bringing URKontinent to life.
