The Architecture Foundation is commissioning a competition to redesign the beehive.
The Architecture Foundation in London is running a competition to find a solution for redesigning hives that are more suited to urban bees. There’s been a slow-shifting trend in city-dwellers trying their hands on beekeeping as a hobby and to create natural, homemade honey. However, the traditional hive for beekeeping is built for a rural context, but isn’t practical in an urban surrounding.
The ‘In Midtown Habitats’ competition is part of the Midtown Buzz campaign that encourages beekeeping in city areas through live demonstrations, educational information and and workshops.
