Amazon recently unveiled a new product, the Kindle Fire. The device is Amazon’s answer to the Apple iPad: it is an Android-powered touch-screen tablet with WiFi capabilities. The display is seven inches, and it weighs 14.6 ounces. While it lacks 3G, a camera, and a microphone, the Kindle Fire is currently priced at only $199, which Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos believes will give the product the edge on the market that it needs. The tablet will include Amazon’s new web browser, called Amazon Silk, and a free 30-day trial of Amazon Prime, their subscription-based service for streaming video. The Kindle Fire is set to ship on November 15.
