Placing tracing paper over his iPhone screen, Evan Roth creates fingerpaintings using his personal device. These Multi-Touch Finger Paintings have titles like ‘Open Twitter, Check Twitter, Close Twitter’, ‘Slide to Un-lock’, and ‘Launch Mail. Read Mail. Close Mail’.

The process results in creating minimalistic patterns that, for iPhone users, spark a list of associations. As pieces of art, however, Evan’s fingerprints reference gestural painting and can look are reminiscent of a painter’s brush strokes.
